T-shirts are one of the most durable articles of clothing and can easily be worn as outerwear and underwear. Created in the 1920s it has quickly evolved to become quite possibly the most popular piece of clothing to wear. This clothing has been finely crafted so that it can be worn by every single person out there. From infants to seniors there is a t-shirt out there that fits perfectly. T-shirts are manufactured in an insane amount of colors, patterns, and styles. The styles of t-shirts range from crew necks to V-necks and tank tops to scoop necks. This piece of clothing is so customizable that even the sleeves come in many different shapes. Even though we all wear t-shirts most of us don’t even know how they are so perfectly created.
All t-shirts out consist of mainly three different types of material. They are either made from 100% cotton or polyester, or they are crafted with a combination of both cotton and polyester. There are however many other fabrics that can be used to create t-shirts, these three styles are just the most popular in the t-shirt manufacturing world. The procedure of making t-shirts is in reality quite a simple thing to do. This simple process is also boosted immensely due to the fact that the entire process is automated. T-shirt manufacturers will have machines for cutting, assembling, and stitching.
The very first step in the creation of a t-shirt is simply deciding which style you will be creating. Upon deciding which t-shirt you are going to make the next step is sending out the dimensions in order for proper patterns to be created. Some adjustments are to be made to compensate for the various size and styles differences. When the dimensions of the t-shirt are transferred the sections of the t-shirt are moved to be cut to their exact specifications.
The next step in the t-shirt’s journey is assembling the sleeves. The majority if the time the hems of the sleeves will be finished long before they are sewn into the garment. This is because hems are much easier to create if the fabric is flat. The hemmed sleeves will be moved into place inside the automated machine and then will be sewn into the correct place on the t-shirt. In most cases the style of the t-shirt’s body will cause slight variations in the way the sleeves are sewn on.
After this step has been completed the garment hem will be sewn together to get the t-shirt one step closer to being finished. Upon finishing the full shirt hem it is on to adding any pockets if they are present inside this particular design. When the potential pockets are completely sewn into place the t-shirt is pushed into one of the final steps which is sewing the shoulder seams. This particular step is usually put this far off as the shoulder seams are completed differently to make sure that they have enough strength. The process of finishing the shoulder seam can be done before or after any neck band is attached.
Upon completing the process of attaching a neck band the t-shirt manufacturer is now able to add any extra features that are supposed to be on this particular style. These additional parts are usually graphics and designs to make a t-shirt different than just a solid color.
